Camera Critters #90 -Rescue attempt

I found this little guy on the cement by my front porch. I scooped him up and promplty put him in a little tea cloth and got my keys and ran to the vet. They gave me a box and said what to do. We even called the bird people and they didn't call till the next day.

In the mean time, they said put him in your bathroom, let him have access to food and try to feed him. He was even drinking from the drop of sugar water I was able to navigate to the underside of the spoon, so I thought he was on the mend!

I tried as hard as I could to save him but he died the next day at 11 a.m. I have since learned that if their fur is all fluffed out like a cotton ball and their teeny little tongue sticks out they are near death and cant be saved.

I tried my best and stayed up with him all night.

He was beautiful and I was devastated.

It is so sad to see this little bird sick. You were so very nice to try and help save the Hummingbird. I'm sorry ti didn't work out.

Me too. I was heartbroken when he died.
I really did think he was gonna make it.

It is heartbreaking but sadly no matter how hard we try, sometimes things just aren't meant to be. I think you are an angel to have tried so hard.

Yes Denise, I too wish he had just got a little stronger to make out outdoors again. But yes, he is in Humming Bird Heaven I guess.

It was miraculous and heartbreaking all at the same time. I am richer for the experience.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Breaks your heart when a poor little bird dies, and a special one at that.
You can only do so much for them, and after that, it's up to fate.
Nice post.

I've done that before w/ 2 baby bunnies & it's certainly heartbreaking!!! His coloring is so very pretty - I love that green color.
I'm so so sorry this happened to you, but you did your best - There's a reason for everything.

Thank you for the comment you left on my blog - Much appreciated!

Pamela, what a sweet little hummingbird. I'm so sorry it didn't survive, but I hope you take comfort in knowing that you made it's last hours more comfortable.
Blessings,
Adrienne

P.s. The fox is in the family room right now. But who knows where I'll put him next. :)

Thanks Martha. I did try hard to save him.

But was not meant to be.
